Our vision.

Building a more memorable childhood through books.

Our broad collection of books will bring the joy of reading to readers of all ages.  Our vision is connecting bilingual children living in Istanbul with a diverse collection of literature, bringing them hard-to-find resources and knowledge. 

The bricks-and-mortar library experience teaches children responsibility, and gives them an inspirational alternative to screen-time, which has unfortunately become the norm.   Our cozy space already boasts over 6,000 titles, and is growing day-by-day.

   Our story.

Acquisitions started in 1985...

One of our founders has been collecting children's literature since the mid-1980s, never dreaming that one day, these beloved books would become the starting point for The Little Library That Could when it opened in 2021 with 1,000 titles.

In 2025, The Little Library That Could joined forces with OSEYAD (Okumayı Sevdirme ve Yaygınlaştırma Derneği), an association established in Istanbul, Türkiye to promote the love of reading.  Thanks to the support of OSEYAD and its founders, The Little Library That Could has even more resources and can serve even more families in Istanbul!

Each title in our collection has been selected with special care, and with the intention to provide children with the joy that comes with discovering a kindred spirit between the pages of a book. We can't wait to begin sharing these titles with you and your children!

Members may place holds and will be notified by email when their hold becomes available. Currently, each book club member is permitted to check out up to four books at one time (books are due back after four weeks).
